Treviso is in the Veneto region of northern Italy, around thirty kilometres north of Venice. Its rather overshadowed by its illustrious neighbour. It sits between two rivers, the SIle and Bottenig with canals crisscrossing the city. It is recognized as the Citta dAcqua, the city of water.

Treviso is really a beautiful little city, not near the scale of Venice but  a quieter, less touristy, more authentic Italian city. Treviso Air port itself had a revamp in 2007 when a new terminal was opened. While it has an impressive, airy, wooden-beamed departure hall, the rest of the air-port isn’t quite so spacious. Despite having four gates, there is only conceivably enough room here for one flight to take off at a time with very little seating, space or facilities obtainable. Not somewhere you would want to get stuck if your flight is delayed.

To buy food or go shopping you’re fairly limited, with the greatest of the restaurants really situated before you go through security. Here you can purchase typical Italian fare, such as freshly-cooked pizza and pasta and have a view from the mountains whilst you eat. Once you go air side there’s a cafe serving light snacks and drinks or you could buy over-priced provisions from your little selection of shops. These include a duty-free outlet, clothes store and retailers selling beauty items and a poor spread of souvenirs.
